The first and most obvious layer of this book is the historical fiction narrative. This is a really layered story with an interesting historical fiction story, an intricate retelling, and a complex mystery. ![]() I finally took the time to read it as part of the Rock My TBR challenge and I'm glad that I did. It came highly recommended after I read and loved Bitter Greens back in 2014. This is a book that has been on my TBR for quite some time now.
